Women’s Self-Care Circles

Women’s circles in Parksville, Qualicum, Errington, Coombs, Comox, Campbell River, Port Alberni, Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Duncan and other areas on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

Have you been yearning to be a part of a group of other like-minded women who want to connect in an environment of supportive, restorative self-care and mindfulness?

These women’s self-care circles may be just the thing you’re looking for. They offer you opportunity for nurturing connection in mindful self-care with other women in the community.

The unique energy of our circles creates a relaxed, no-pressure environment in which you may replenish in a safe, gentle, supportive space.

What Do We Do In The Women’s Circles?

Our circles are a place to share in different ways. Mostly, we are a talking circle – a respectful place where everyone has the opportunity to speak her truth, share her story, ask questions in safety.

I gently facilitate each circle with light guidance to maintain the warm, relaxed and intimate atmosphere.

We’ve shared on a diversity of topics, including mindfulness, self-care, women’s issues, spirituality, depression/anxiety, grief, addiction recovery, sexuality, compassion burnout, and more.

Whatever you bring to the circle in the spirit of consideration and kindness is honoured and supported. I’m always curious to see how the circle evolves with each different blend of women.

“I have greatly benefited from attending women’s circles guided by Renée. She gently encourages and allows the circle to unfold naturally. Supportive, genuine, safe and healing would describe my experience. [She] also has a wonderful sense of humour, allowing playfulness to enter.” ~ Marla

Do You Need To Bring Anything?

We always have a kettle, mugs and selection of teas available.

As an option, you may wish to bring your journal, a warm blanket, a cozy cushion, candles, your favourite cup or something else that is important to you. But it’s not required. Bring whatever moves you, or just bring yourself.

The only exception is food. We have not had success sharing food during our circles. It creates a more chatty ambience which takes away from the introspective, quiet nature of our purpose. If you need to bring food with you, please eat it before or after the circle.

Where Do The Circles Happen?

We have met in wellness centres, community halls, bookstores, living rooms, rented meeting rooms, office lunchrooms and in the great outdoors.

The Circles really can happen anywhere.

How Long Do The Circles Last?

These Women’s Circles last for approximately 1.5 hours.

These circles are of a drop-in nature. You are not obligated to commit to attendance on a regular basis. There is no set number to attend. You’re most welcome to join us for one circle or several at any time, as you choose.

If you’re looking for a more structured, committed type of group, please get in touch with me. I have a few ideas on the horizon but they’re still in creation stages. Knowing there’s interest will help me with development.

Who Is Invited To Attend?

Generally, most of the Circles are geared toward adult women.

Occasionally, I create Circles with more specific groups in mind:

  • teens
  • men and women
  • caregivers
  • people in addiction recovery
  • grief and grieving

If you have a request for a specific type of group, please contact me.

Do You Have To Sign Up Or Register?

You don’t need to register, but I do need an approximate head count. Let me know you’re thinking of coming in advance by email or message me on Facebook. Even if you’re not sure if you’ll be able to come, it still helps me to know that you may be joining us.

Is There a Cost?

There are expenses wherever we meet, so there is a suggested donation of $5 for each circle, or whatever you can afford. If your circumstances don’t allow for contributing financially, please come anyway. I don’t want money to be a barrier to anyone wishing to join us.
